Citizens CD Review

The Mars Hill Church band, Citizens, released a new self-titled album this past month. (You may remember our Mars Hill E.P. review from 2 months ago.) I have never been so happy with an album.

The songs on the album range from pop-rock (“Made Alive”) to ballads (“Living in a Land of Death”), while boasting of edgy, yet soulful vocals. It has the emotional intensity of Hillsong United and combines the sparkling use of beat and synth of Switchfoot. This band also has a sound similar to the worship band Seabird. The re-mastered hymns are amazing. The lyrics are Biblical; the music is spectacular and the album as a whole shines as a newer genre of worship music.

I give this album five out of five stars. I recommend it to any Christian wanting to expand his or her Worship music collection. If their first album is this great, I can’t wait for what’s to come from Citizens!
