It will change you forever. |
Let me admit something right now: I'm a romantic. I love pink, white horses and flowers. Vintage lace makes me swoon. I love chick flicks and I love seeing girls fall into a love that's deeper than they ever imagined. Oh, I got chills just thinking about it! I'm one of the girls that will like a guy so much my whole being aches. I'm the girl that wants a fairy-tale wedding full of romance and as many fairy twinkle lights as we can legally have in one building. I want to get swept off my feet by my best friend and I want to spend my entire life with him. (There are those chills again!)
That being said, I'm not a huge fan of Valentine's Day. It's not that I hate it, in fact, I quite enjoy the pastels and the red and the hearts and the chocolates and the jewelry, it's just that I'm not sure what to do with it. Honestly, I don't even know why I don't like it that much.
New flash: I'm between the ages of 15-18 and I've never been asked on a date. Ever. Not even once. (Basically unheard of in our culture, right?) Sometimes, that gets annoying. I know it's not my fault... it's not anyone's fault!... it's just that God's still working on me and I'm not ready for that kind of relationship. I understand. But still...
I'm sure all you single girls can relate. We were created for relationships, it's probably natural to feel this way.
Before we can be put in a dating (or courting, as I'll eventually be doing) relationship, we need to learn the depth of our Savior's love. We need to know that we know that we know that no matter what happens, He always wants us.
Contrary to what we think, God IS enough. He's waiting to satisfy us.
"You open your hand and satisfy the desires of every living thing."
{Psalm 145:16}
"You open your hand and satisfy the desires of every living thing."
{Psalm 145:16}
He loves us in a furious, unquenchable way. He wants EVERY part of us and He won't be satisfied till he has all of us.
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
{Romans 8:38-39}
I'm sure God looks down at me at times and just shakes his head with a smile and says, "there she goes again...fantasizing about her future again." He knows those deep desires of my heart. He knows how much I want a boyfriend at times. He knows I want that kind of attention most days. He knows how much I want to be fought for. He knows and He's not surprised, either. He's not surprised, either. He put those longings inside of me. He has a purpose for it all. While I'm waiting to figure out those purposes, I'm learning what love truly means. I'm learning that He is really all I need.
God's love is furious.
