Yesterday, my sister, dad and I went to see Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted. I admit, I didn't have high hopes for this movie. It's about 4 cartoon animals that escape from the zoo... could it get any more unrealistic? I went in a little cynical but I came out loving it!
In this movie, the furry four find themselves on the run from the law when they land in Monte Carlo after yet another failed attempt to get back home to NY. Soon, they find a circus, tell a few lies and they're on their way to America. I'm not going to go into details, I'll just tell you to go see this family movie. It's good fun for every age!
One of the new characters, a Russian tiger named Vitaly, was raised with the circus. After taking one too many risks and leaping through a small flaming hoop, he catches fire. He lost his fur, his passion and his dignity. He gives up.
Later in the movie, we find out that he was the glue holding the circus together and now? They're terrible!
With the zoosters' help, the circus gets back on its feet, but Vitaly is reluctant to jump through another hoop. He begins to pack up his things. Alex the lion finds him just in time. After some convincing from Alex, Vitaly realizes something: "That's why people love my act, Vitaly do the impossible." He realizes that the reason he loves jumping through hoops the size of rings is because it's impossible. He ends up doing the trick again flawlessly and finds his passion again.
This movie got me thinking. I really want to be a singer/songwriter. Currently, that dream seems impossible. I don't know where to begin. But what if I gave up? I would never see that dream realized. God gives us dreams and passions and hopes for the future. This is the one He gave me. I think this is part of His plan that He has for me. (Jeremiah 29:11) If I keep my eyes on Him, I'll find out.
I'm going to run after Jesus and by doing so, I'll be running after His dreams for me.
And to quote Vitaly, "If I go down in flames, so be it!"
