What did I do this weekend? I had the most amazing time at a party for one of my "sisters", Kenzie. We stayed up around the campfire, talking with friends, sharing thoughts and playing games. The next day, we went to church (my old church) and I was overwhelmed at seeing all of my closest friends there. 3 of my girlfriends, my sister and I drove to a baptism for another one of our friends. The ride there was so much fun! (N, if you're reading this, I still can't believe that song came on! Haha!) The baptism followed and I have never seen a sweeter one. This girl is running full after God and witnessing her go into the lake and rise out of it was beautiful. More fun with friends insued followed.
God has really been teaching me what friendship is this past summer. The verse I keep getting sent back to is Proverbs 17:17 " Friends love through all kinds of weather, and families stick together in all kinds of trouble." This verse has been so evident in my life over the past year. I was sure that a lot of my friends were going to leave me the minute I left RHCF. Once again, God's proven me wrong. Yesterday showed me that. As I sat around the table at the Lake after the baptism, I realized how many real friends God's given me that stick by me no matter what happens. Proverbs 18:24 says "Friends come and friends go, but a true friend sticks by you like family." After all the heartache that's happened, all the arguments I've had with my friends, all the tears we shared, all the prayer, I realized yesterday that I've found a group of those "true friends"... and they were right under my nose. Sometimes, you have to feel like you almost lost something in order for you to appreciate what you've always had.
I don't know what the point of this post is. Pray you'll find real friends, and He'll give them to you. I know that firsthand. He did it for me.
