Songs of Encouragement

As you’ve more than likely heard, hearing the right song at the right time can completely change our attitude. A few weeks ago, I was having a really hard time and God used the music from a few artist to help me through. Here’s a list of some songs you should check out if you need some encouragement.

Songs that have helped me:

This is the day by Phil Wickam- this song is about lost people being found. It says “the night is finally over, won’t you step into the light?” and that caught me off guard. The whole song encouraged me to hold on because “The day, the day when life begins” was right around the corner.

On My Own by Ashes Remain- what first drove me to this song was the intro. The beat is amazing! Anyway, it reminds me that I’m not on my own and we can’t fight this fight alone. We aren’t meant to fight alone, we’re meant to let God fight with us and for us.

Constant by Francessca Battestelli- this song reminds me that God is always and will always be there, right next to me. He is our Constant

Never Let You Go by Manafest- in this tune, Manafest reminds us that God is always there holding us and that He’ll NEVER, EVER let us go.

My Hope is in You by Aaron Shust- even in the storm, God should be our hope. With Him, we won’t be shaken by drought or storm, but we’ll have a peace that passes understanding.

Never Alone by BarlowGirl- this is an older song, but it rings true through the ages: we are never alone.

Letting Go by Kelsea Babbitt- Okay, so you won’t find this song in stores or on itunes or on any CD.... YET. (I’m convinced you will someday, but that’s not the point) One of my close friends wrote it and we sing it at Youth Group. It’s basically about letting go and trusting in God enough to step out onto the water. It’s a great song!

Beauty’s Just a Word by Rachael Lampa- some of the lyrics: “It’s dark so you can see the light and it hurts so you can know what’s right and rain, nothing ever grows without you.”

Like an Avalanche by United- one of friends introduced me to this song and I fell in love with it. We got to lead it for worship one week, too.  (That was fun, Katherine!) It goes like this: “And I find myself here on my knees again, caught up in Grace like an avalanche. Nothing compares to this love, love, love burning in my heart.”

Blessed Be the Name by ??- you probably sing this song in church, but if you really think about the words, you suddenly realize that you need to bless His name, no matter what.

Breath of God by Tricia Brock- only God can satisfy and Tricia remind us of that.

All This Time by Britt Nicole- I can’t relate to the whole song, but it encourages me every time I hear it. All This Time, God’s been right beside me.

Mountain Top by The City Harmonic- God is all around us. He’s here… right now.

Find You on My Knees Kari Jobe- this song is about how God is near when we’re at the end of our rope. He shows us there’s always more. This isn’t the end.

Awake and Alive by Skillet- Awake and Alive is about the war of the worlds- the heavenly and the earthly. We can’t win if we’re sleeping, but when God wakes us up, we can win.

Take Heart by United- read the title of the song. Do you need to know anything else about it?

Steady My Heart by Kari Jobe- This song helped me hang on. God steadies our hearts and He’s always near. We can trust Him, even when it hurts, even when it hurts, even when it’s hard.

Shaken by Paul Baloche- Anything that can be, will be shaken, but that’s okay, because God will remain.
